Hyper Real Radio - New Music Friday Picks, 16.08.24
Nice compact list today, lets dig in immediately!
Kinshasa's industrial punks Fulu Miziki are back with an EP of their hypnotic Afro-Futurist rock thats well situated in a club context. File Explorer blesses us with computer game jungle, perfect to play during a Sonic session. Koreless will probably be the stand-out highlight for most - he's come a long way from his early beginnings as a post-dubstep prodigy to slowly approaching Jamie XX levels of pop music impact. My personal highlight is the new Sir Hiss four tracker - not only does it feature one of my favorite MCs ever, Roll Deep alumni Manga St. Hilaire, but also two cut-throat steppers that come as close to Techno any Grime producer has ever been. Swarmm, who played one of the most incredible live shows I've seen this year, has a mixtape full of edits dropping today, and Microfunk legend BOP turns down the BPM while still maintaining his high precision and dreamy sound. You know I'm a sucker for Dub, so the Ajnkana EP is exactly the kind of hazy, muted dub techno I'd like to hear at some point this weekend, ideally in the twilight towards the end of the night.
This and plenty of other gems across dark electro, guaracha, bass music and all that jazz we like around here.
