From A L M A "An eclectic sonic exploration through a vast array of geographical landscapes and their associated time periods." Allie is a queer, non-binary dancer, musician and Death Doula currently living on the traditional land of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Mississaguas, and Haudenosaunne people. Colonial known as Hamilton, ON. Allie graduated from Concordia University in 2013 with a BFA in Contemporary Dance, as well as a Minor in Religious Studies. Their current artistic practice involves researching ways that we can learn to embody the feelings and sensations of landscapes and use that to help us identify our experiences of grief and death within our proprioceptive body. Their explorations in presences, and their work as a death doula, challenges the way dance and movement are commonly expressed and experienced. Allie is a founding member of Tkaronto (Toronto) based dance collective Open Fortress who explore collaboration through the use of different types of technology, sound and movement to create non-traditional and subversive atmospheres. They are also a founding member of the musical group DOOMSQUAD (2011-2020), and new musical project A L M A. Grief hits you. The moment it hits, you might reach for a mechanism to express sadness. You might render memory through an external medium. For many of us who knew Dave Darby—who were hit by grief when he passed in early May—music was the medium of choice. Whether or not music is “about” a thing, music is always in relation to things. Often music exists in relation to groups of people—to community. As board president, longstanding volunteer, and Music Gallery superfan, Dave Darby was a deeply caring presence in our community. Many community members had stories about Dave, and as many people had songs about Dave. These songs encompass shared experiences, places, friendships and feelings that are linked to him.&nbsp; So we offer this episode in memory of Dave Darby, and thank everyone who contributed, who shared in our grief, who celebrated all of the ways that he was present as family, friend, and community member. Some recurring elements: perplexing percussion, impossible instruments,
